“Ruffled Feathers” Selected for Exhibition at The Gallery Holt
Cat portrait artist UK Sarah Webb is delighted to share that her original feline artwork, Ruffled Feathers, has been selected for The Gallery Holt’s prestigious 2026 Put The Cat Among The Pigeons exhibition.
To have this piece chosen for exhibition by such a respected gallery is a genuine honor.
Founded in 1972, The Gallery Holt has built a reputation as one of East Anglia’s leading contemporary art venues, exhibiting original artwork from established and emerging artists across the UK.
The “Put The Cat Among The Pigeons” mixed media exhibition runs from 30th May to 7th July, celebrating feline and feathered subjects in a dynamic themed showcase.

The Inspiration Behind Ruffled Feathers
Cats are endlessly fascinating subjects to paint because no two personalities are ever the same. Some are elegant and composed, while others are playful, mischievous, and full of curiosity.
With Ruffled Feathers, I wanted to capture one of those fleeting moments that cat owners 1know so well — the instant focus, concentration, and playful energy that appears when something catches their attention. This piece was inspired by KitKat, a beautiful tiny stray cat who decided she would live with us.

Cats have such wonderfully distinct characters — playful, independent, mischievous, elegant — and that individuality makes them endlessly fascinating subjects.
With “Ruffled Feathers,” I wanted to create a piece that felt both contemporary and timeless, balancing realism with a sense of movement and storytelling.
The clean composition and monochromatic palette give the artwork a calm sophistication, while the lifted paw and floating feather bring a playful sense of life. Mediums used quite simply Charcoal and Gouache.
