ABOUT THE ARTIST

Welcome to The Little Design Studio Pet Portraits Journal, I just thought as you will be dealing with just me, you might want to find out a bit more about how it all started and where it’s all going.

I love to design… it is as simple as that.

In 2006 I decided to set up The Little Design Studio. Freelance was what I wanted to be so I started offering graphic design services in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire. My client base grew and I now offer website and graphic design throughout the country.

I still receive projects from clients who I began to work with in 2006, we have built up fantastic relationships based on trust, good humour and a really good attitude to work (on both sides). These clients have meant that I have never advertised (apart from a little bit of networking) It has been word of mouth which has gained the variety of clients I have, ranging from marketing agencies, schools, nurseries, equestrian services, seamstress, civil engineers, structural engineers, doctors, hotels, estate agents, photographers, hair dressers, food manufacturers, lucky really… no day is ever the same.

Although I work in my studio alone I am part of a great team. I have a marketing expert who I can refer my clients to, hosting and SEO experts who really know their stuff and am safe in the knowledge that sites will be safe in their hands, printers who I can rely on, copy writers and proof readers with wordy type skills which amaze me. With this team we can go from wildly creative, quirky and fun to very serious, professional and corporate. Each new piece of work is like having a blank canvas and I love that.

The Little Design Studio – Pet Portraits

My studio has always been full of pictures, quotes, images, books, magazines and oooozing inspiration. While I was at college studying Graphic Design I used to earn extra money by painting pet portraits for people. Unfortunately as the Graphic and Website design side of the business took off, this took a back seat. The pandemic changed this… I wasn’t travelling to client meetings and this gave me more time to pick up a pencil and sketch, I started with our crazy family of animals and I loved it. I found peace in sitting and sketching and started offering the pet portrait service alongside graphic and website design and it has just taken off.

I love to see clients faces when they see their portrait, some are memorial portraits and so to be able to give them a keepsake of their much loved pet is lovely.

I revently worked on a portrait of a lovely dog named Bob… King Bob actually – this beautiful boy was a much loved member of the family and his loss was devastating. Bobs portrait was a birthday gift from a very good friend and a surprise. Bob’s owner called me to say thank you, she hadn’t thought she would want a portrait of Bob until she saw it and while working on Bob I just couldn’t let him go without a little additional pen drawing of him as King Bob with a crown.
